Adopt a Dog

We insist that you come here, to Thunder Bay, Ontario, to pick up your puppy or dog! This way you meet your new furfriend before you fill out the paperwork to confirm your adoption! All adoptions are $325 unless stated otherwise. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your dog or puppy.

YOU MUST HAVE A VET TO ADOPT THROUGH PAWS FOR LOVE!

If you’re a client with Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital, their regulations stipulate that you must contact them, state that you give Paws for Love permission to confirm you are a client, and then you must contact us at info@paws4love.ca and let us know that we have your permission to confirm your file is active. Failure to do so may result in your inability to adopt. We suggest that whatever clinic you use, that you inform them that you give Paws for Love consent to affirm your file is active and you’re able to add another dog to your file.

Hello, my name is Rose and I’m a 1 1/2 year old female mixed breed (Shepherd, husky, lab) and weigh about 65 lbs. I’m a very gentle and quiet girl that loves to chill with you while you watch tv and then go for long walks, checking out the trails and the neighbourhood. I’m great with kids and dogs (I have yet to meet a cat, but since I’m such a chill lady my foster believes I’ll be fine with the proper introduction.) I’m very smart as I learned how to sit and lay down the very first time. I’m also great on the leash and I’m learning how to heel. I’m pretty much crate trained, although I don’t need it as I can be left alone and I’ll wait patiently until you come home. GHOST

Ghost is an 11 week old, female, Shepherd-husky-terrier. You can see a bit of that “wirey rough” terrier coat around her face and on her back and in her spunky personality.

She is very sweet and snuggly with everyone she meets. She will climb onto your lap if you sit on the ground or on a step, even outside when there are other distractions.

Ghost loves to play with toys of all varieties. She has that natural puppy curiosity of wanting to put everything in her mouth. Her love of toys makes correcting and distracting her that much easier. She’s also food motivated if you keep some kibble in your pocket when you want to work with her.

Ghost has settled in very nicely with her foster family where there are two kids, two dogs (one adult, one senior), and chickens. She has come along really well to understanding how each dog prefers to play. Her adult foster sister is happy to wrestle and play a bit rough and loud sometimes. Her senior foster sister does not want rough play and Ghost chooses to follow her around sometimes or lay beside her giving her the cutest puppy eyes, begging for love

Ghost was quick to catch onto her foster family’s routine. She has learned to use stairs comfortably, and has adjusted well spending time in a puppy pen. She sits to wait for doors or gates to be opened. She knows that if she’s jumping, we will wait patiently to open up or say hi.

After about a week with her fosters, Ghost was sleeping through the night, waking up once to pee. She prefers to go to the bathroom outside, but is also consistently using newspaper when she needs to go in a rush.
